Below are four great ways to participate in some of our programming.

Step 1: Take a course in our Roots Program

The Roots Program is the best way for students who are new to the world of technology to get a foot in the door. We offer beginner and intermediate courses in practical technology topics, as well as occasional lectures from industry leaders or other professionals. The Roots Program is the front door to the Co-Lab, offering a great entry point to start learning about technology and moving towards your first project. Check out the Roots schedule to see what we're offering and sign up for an event.

Step 2: Join our Newsletter and find us on Social Media

Our newsletter is a weekly look at what is going on in the Co-Lab and highlights the opportunities to participate in a variety of events and programming. You can sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of every page on this site. You'll also find us posting cool projects on Instagram, advertising events on facebook, writing stories on Tumblr, and interacting with our peers on Twitter.

Step 3: Visit the Studio

The Studio is the community home of the Co-Lab. It's your one-stop shop for anyone, regardless of skill and experience, to come in and be able to make a product through an iterative design process. We have a variety of tools including CNC routers, Laser Cutters/Engravers, 3d printers, and a variety of other electronics, sensors, and hand tools.

Step 4: Apply for a Co-Lab Innovation Grant

Our grant program is a great way to get additional mentorship, consultation, resources, or funding to bring a great idea into reality. We're looking for projects that can have a real effect on the Duke University Community. If you have an idea, check out the grant program to see if it would be a good fit, or feel free to contact us with questions to talk it over.
